Gainsbourg: “The racketting from the IRS, that’s what I’m going to show you. This is not a metaphor, this is physics. Going to take a 500 franc bill. I’m taxed at 74%, OK? I’m going to tell you what i have left. I know this is illegal, what i’m about to do, but i’ll do it. I don’t give a damn if they lock me up, i’ll be on a diet. OK i’m going to tell you what’s left for me. I’ll stop at 74%. Because this money doesn’t go to the poor, ok, it’s for the nuclear, the…”Journalist: “Do you know that you’re irritating a lot of people by doing this?”Gainsbourg: “Oh please, it’s my money, i don’t give a damn. Here what is left from the 500. That’s what i got left.”

The past few weeks have been a lot of fun, even without heat, hot water or a real bed. There are so many pics that I'm having a hard time deciding which to actually
put up. So, instead of laying out what feels like a whole month in one post, I'll just post pictures of the loft on Knickerbocker.
These are all photos I found online.

This photo looks old but the car, the kid's attire and the style of the bike make me think it could have been anytime between 94 and 2008. I like how all of the windows are a different style. I don't know how much I would like that now, but I like it in the picture.

Somewhat the same angle as the first photo, but you get view of the cement place across from us and the huge wall of graf off Knickerbocker and Harrison Place.

I had come across this picture before moving to New York. Little did I know, in a few months I would be living in the building on the left. This was taken from the corner of Knickerbocker and Thames.
So yea, I'm loving the new place and the new neighborhood. I can only imagine what it will be like with heat and in a few months.

So Monday night I got home from my second day of work to the dogs chewing on my beanie and our electricity being shut off. Allegedly there was some sort of mix up with the deadline of past due rent.

I left to Trash bar for their open bar and watched Zane Alan play. He sang some songs about I-10 and Marfa and Divine.
After the show I found he had moved from Texas in April. He was being kicked out of his apartment and looking for a roommate. Drunk as fuck, we talked for a while and exchanged numbers as he ran off in a small crowd of swooning girls. I got back home at about 1am to everyone watching Josh playing Marc Ecko's Getting Up.

Kristen had paid a portion of the money owed and got our lights turned back on. I got ready for bed and one of the dogs puked.

Tuesday night was pretty calm and I was tired from lack of sleep and being hungover half the day. I got ready for bed early and we all watched as the polls started to tally up. It didn't seem like a definitive answer would come anytime soon so josh started playing Xbox again. At about 11 we heard yells from outside. I rushed down to get some video of the commotion. So, this is basically how I found out Obama won. No television, No internet, just people.

work

This Halloween I wandered around the East Village in a daze with Kristen and Josh. I was kind of disheartened when I realized I had forgotten my camera. Major Bummer. Too tired to go out and party, and too broke to get a costume, I got home at about 12.

Here are some old short films that blew my mind when I was about 6-7 years old.

Switching to Blogspot. I'd prefer Typepad, but I'd also prefer to have more money in my pockets.
